Mill Breakage
Spindle Motor – I think this was my fault, trying to plunge an end-mill that wasn’t a center-cut type, I applied more and more pressure until it finally seized the motor. It burned out both the motor and the controller.
Spindle Motor Controller (twice) – I’m not sure why it happened again, but I think overloading the motor burned up another controller. After the second one, that’s when I went shopping for an alternative to the factory-provided one.
End-Mills – wearing down cutters is normal, but I cut too aggressively chipped of a big chunk of an HSS end-mill cutting a piece of welded steel. I think when it went from the steel to the weld (or vice versa).
