Power Plugs Lock Box

My very first shop project!  After I started accumulating all my machinery, I decided that these represented a real hazard to all the curious little fingers of grandchildren that are always all over the place around here.  So I built an absurd-over-kill strong box that I could mount on the wall and lock up all the power plugs for the most dangerous machines, so kids couldn’t confidently or accidently turn them on and hurt themselves.

I designed and cut and shaped and welded two folding halves with interlocking fingers that secure the plugs – not very elegant, or even pretty, but wonderfully functional.

I even broke my first end mill on it!

It’s made out of 1/8-in steel and hardware-store hinges and lock.

If anyone asks about it, I tell them, “It’s not ugly – it’s art!”
